  Had a dreadful experience at Inchcape Derby today. Pre-arranged a test drive. After an hour's drive over, we got there and had to wait for the salesman who I had spoken to on the phone. After a very long "ten minutes", he met us, introduced himself and said we should follow him. He led us to the car, looked at the number plate and then just walked off without another word. He reappeared a couple of minutes later with keys and, still without saying anything, unlocked the car, got into the driver's seat, tried to start the car and then spent at least five minutes trying to work out how to open the bonnet. He tried the catch at the front without success and hunted under the driver and passenger dashboard for a lever (readjusting the steering column in the process) until he decided to try the catch again which he managed, eventually, to get to work. Not very professional! He did say someone left the light on which was the most we had heard him say! No apology for keeping us waiting or for not being able to get on with the test drive - not even anything either by way of discussion or about the car. We were just left standing like lemons as he tried to open the bonnet. When he did manage, he looked at the battery and then just walked away. He returned, still not saying a word, and tried to connect a starter to the battery and then tried to start the car again without success. And still he completely ignored us. Still not a word - by this stage his utter rudeness was getting a tad irritating! He then got out of the car, retrieved the starter unit from the battery and turned on his heels to walk back to the showroom again, and again without a word and without even acknowledging us. Our patience had been tested! So we did the same - we walked off. So my advice is if you want to buy a car don't go to the rude ignorant people at Inchcape Derby.

  I bought a used Toyota Yaris hybrid from Inchcape, Derby a couple of days ago and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice of car retailer. The 'meeter and greeter' was very pleasant and brought us coffee while we waited the two minutes for a sales assistant. Sara was very bubbly, knowledgeable and helpful; she went the extra mile (actually it was about ten miles!) to ensure that we were dealt with speedily and effectively and that I got the best car to meet my needs. I met her business manager who was similarly super at his job and I was introduced to some of the staff in the very clean, tidy and efficient service department. The whole experience was enjoyable and I now have a nearly-new car which will, I am sure, serve me well for some years. I have great confidence in the company and I would recommend Inchcape Derby to anyone who is interested in purchasing a new or used car in the near future. They will look after you.
